On January 11, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg shook the social media marketing world with a post announcing upcoming changes to Facebook – something many are calling “Facebook Apocalypse” or “Facebook Zero.” And yes, if you use Facebook for marketing your business, these changes will directly affect you.

In a nutshell, Zuckerberg stated he believes that Facebook has gotten away from its original purpose – helping “people stay connected and bring us closer together with people that matter to us.” Instead, Facebook’s research indicated that “posts from businesses, brands and media” were overcrowding the Facebook feed, and in turn reducing the “personal moments that lead us to connect more with each other.”

Zuckerberg plans to change that.
