Michigan Reports Graffiti Removal Costs More than $500,000 in 2012

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) reports costs of over $500,000 in graffiti removal for 2012, with more than $150,000 spent on I-94 in Detroit. Safe graffiti removal on the interstate requires closing down lanes of traffic as well. The MDOT wanted to make people aware of the costs involved, noting that the money could be better spent repairing roads. The $150,000 is the same amount required to resurface six miles of one lane of road.
